If you think about it, all Apple products aren’t new designs, they’re simplified versions of existing products, with very clever marketing. Instead of selling a product, what Apple sell, is a lifestyle. I’m sure you can remember the television adverts? The ones in which a silhouette dances against a colorful and constantly changing background, fuelled by the distinctive white headphones and a little white box in the silhouettes hand? The interesting thing is that at no point are you shown the iPod’s interface, how it works, or any of its features. If you ask yourself why, the answer is simple. Apple aren’t selling the product, they’re selling the experience of owning an iPod. An MP3 player lets you listen to music, but an iPod makes you dance.
